A 30 minute website audit you can do over a cup of tea

If your website has been quietly sitting there — not broken, but not quite working either — this is for you.

You don’t need a full rebrand. You don’t need to rewrite everything from scratch. You don’t need six uninterrupted hours.

You need 30 minutes. And a cup of tea (or coffee, or wine, or beverage of choice)

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about finding some clarity.

Let’s gently walk through it.

First (5 minutes): Read it like a stranger

Open your homepage.

Now imagine you know nothing about your business. Yes I know that is hard because you know everything about your business, but imagine you are five again, and an expert at playing pretend.

Ask yourself:

  • Is it immediately clear what I do?

  • Is it clear who I help?

  • Is it clear what someone should do next?

If someone landed here for the first time, would they feel oriented — or slightly lost?

You’re not looking for poetic or fancy. You’re looking for clear.

Clarity builds trust faster than clever wording ever will.

Next (5 minutes): Check your top section

The very top of your homepage matters more than almost anything else.

Look at:

  • Your headline

  • Your subheading

  • Your call to action button

Could a 12-year-old understand what you do from those few lines?

If not, it's time to simplify.

You don’t need to sound impressive. You need to sound understandable.

Then (5 minutes): Look for the bits that feel sticky

Scroll slowly.

Notice where you:

  • Repeat yourself

  • Use vague phrases (like “transformational experience” or “innovative solutions”)

  • Over-explain

  • Under-explain

Where do you feel slightly unsure as you read?

That feeling? Your clients will feel it too.

Make a note of those sections. You don’t have to fix them today — just notice them.

Another 5 minutes: Is there a clear path?

Ask yourself: if someone is ready to work with me, what happens next?

Is there:

  • A clear call to action (CTA) button?

  • A visible contact link?

  • A simple explanation of how to start?

Or are people expected to figure it out themselves?

Websites work best when they guide gently. Not when they hide the door, or even worse, forget to even put in a door.

Final 10 minutes: Your About & Services pages

Now click into your About page. Does it:

  • Share why you do this work?

  • Sound like a real person?

  • Make it easy to understand your experience?

Then your Services page:

  • Is it clear what’s included?

  • Is it clear who it’s for?

  • Is pricing or next steps explained?

If someone had to decide in five minutes whether to get in touch with you, would they have enough information?

And that’s it

You’ve just done your 30-minute website audit.

No spreadsheets. No drama. No tearing it all down and starting again.

Just awareness. Clarity.

Often, those are the key things that have been missing.

A gentle reminder

Your website doesn’t need to be louder or fancier (unless you're selling high-end designer handbags or luxury cars, then by all means, go full on fancy)

It just needs to be clearer.

And if you’ve gone through this and thought,“I can see what needs improving but I don’t quite know how to fix it…”

That’s completely normal.

This is the work I do — helping you untangle what’s already there and shape it into something that looks, sounds and feels like you.

But even if you do nothing else today, those 30 minutes are a powerful place to start.

With kindness,

Leanne
