I've loved words my whole life. I just spent a few decades not admitting it.

It's a common story. You end up doing the practical thing, the thing that makes sense on paper. And somewhere along the way you quietly file the thing you actually love under "not a real career" and get on with it.

I'm done with that.

I'm a copywriter. I work with people in service-based businesses who know what they do and why they do it, but who sound like a completely different person the moment they try to write about it.

 

My job is to fix that.

I do it by listening first. Really listening. To how you talk about your work when you're not trying to sound impressive, to the moments where you light up, and to the places where you go a little vague and start hedging. Then I write it the way it always should have sounded.

 

What I'm not going to do is make you sound corporate, or formal, or like you swallowed a brochure. Professional and warm are not opposites. The best thing your words can do is make the right person feel like they've found someone who gets them.
